Complimentary Lunch & Learn – Depression And The Treatment-Prevalence Paradox
It is widely believed that treatment for depression has both significantly improved and become considerably more accessible since the 1980’s coinciding with the medicalisation of psychiatric disorders. Interestingly, with this increase in treatment availability, we have not seen a commensurate reduction in the prevalence of depression, thus creating the treatment-prevalence paradox.
In this complimentary lunch and learn, practitioners will be introduced to the treatment-prevalence paradox and the urgent need for more efficacious treatment options, while enhancing their understanding of the role of the natural medicine practitioner in the support and treatment of depression.
Key Learning Outcomes:
- An introduction to the treatment-prevalence paradox, and the need for more efficacious treatment options for depression.
- An update on the pathophysiological underpinnings of depression.
- An overview of key natural medicine ingredients, specifically herbal and psychobiotic compounds and their clinical efficacy in the treatment of depression.
- A broader understanding of the opportunity and role complementary medicine has in supporting patients with depression.
